BENEFITS OF THE TBLOCK
SYSTEM
Simplicity
The
TBLOCK is made of concrete only.
- No steel or other reinforcement is required in
the manufacture of the TBLOCKs.
- TBLOCKs are manufactured in a simple two-part
mould that is re-usable each day.
- TBLOCKs are available for assembly one month
after being poured.
Design
- The Design Engineer can select the size and weight
of the TBLOCK to suit the tidal, wave height and on site lifting
conditions.
Cost effectiveness
- Less volume of material required: The cross sectional
area of a TBLOCK structure is less than that of structures using
other methods.
- The material cost of an all TBLOCK structure
can be less than half of an all rock armour structure.
- TBLOCKs can be made on site from ready mixed
concrete.
- Reduction in material used also reduces the transportation
costs involved on any project.

Interlocking
- Unlike most other systems the TBLOCK does not
rely on random interlock. It gives a guaranteed interlock in two
planes so that no one unit can be displaced.
It can be used in all ground
conditions.
- TBLOCKs can be built on rock, shale or clay.
- Each vertical column can settle independently:
The assembled TBLOCKs create a series of interlocked vertical
columns with a central vertical void that can be used for piling
or to strengthen the assembled column.
Environment
- TBLOCKs do not attract rodents and debris unlike
structures built with rock armour and other random interlock features.
- The stepped ‘saw tooth’ internal
wall absorbs ‘wave-wash’ energy.

Aesthetics
- TBLOCKs can be profiled to offer an attractive
sculptured appearance when assembled.

- The TBLOCK structure can follow contours; it
does not have to be laid in straight lines.
TBlock Assembly
Configurations
Variations in TBlock assembly can produce a variety of straight
line arrangements.
Using a combination of the three configurations shown enables coast
contours
to be followed.

- TBLOCKs can also be coloured.

Amenities
- TBLOCKs offer a vertical ‘saw tooth’
wall that offers opportunities for amenity development for fishermen,
sailors and tourism potential.
Handling
- TBLOCKs can be lifted in a variety of ways to
suit the site conditions and available facilities.
Hydraulic properties
- TBLOCK structures can be designed so that a stepped
structure in two planes dissipates wave energy.
